A studio shoot costs $250. The shoot itself lasts about 90 minutes.
You will get a compact disc (CD) containing full-resolution images (JPEG format)
of every shot I take. We will work together to choose between 9 and 12 "hero"
shots that will receive the full digital treatment (cropping, exposure and color adjustment,
and retouching if necessary).
Here are three examples of what a selection of hero shots looks like:
I will deliver to you:
- A compact disc with full-resolution versions of the adjusted hero shots,
plus all the other shots we took in the studio. (You can use this CD to put
photos on a web site, to include photos in printed promotional materials,
or to purchase prints from a commercial service.);
- A "contact sheet" of the 9 to 12 hero shots (2 pages, with 4x3-inch prints); and,
- Four 8x10-inch prints of shots you choose.
The images come with a perpetual, unlimited license for you to use them for your
promotional or personal purposes. I retain the copyright, which means that you may not
sell or license the photos to anyone else, and that I may use the photos for my
portfolio. I will provide appropriate forms when we schedule a shoot.
How I Do It
My shoots are improvisational and fun.
We'll take around 200 shots,
only a few of which will be useful! Some of the shots
will be wonderfully amazing, and those are the ones we're looking for.
At the end of the shoot, we will review all the shots on a high-definition TV in
the studio, and you can select those that deserve more attention.
After the shoot, I'll prepare a web gallery or a preview CD, for you to browse.
You'll pick the "hero" shots that are most suited to your purpose – be it posting on
your web site, printing in your published materials, or sending to your family. I will
adjust each hero shot individually until it's perfect.
From the hero shots, you'll pick 4 of which
you want 8x10-inch prints. I use an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer, with 8 colors
of pigment ink, and a 100-year archival rating when the photos are kept under glass
or in an album. I will make additional 8x10-inch prints for $4 each (about the
same price as many commercial services).
We can schedule your shoot in my studio any day of the week, between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Plan for about 90 minutes in most cases. Please e-mail
david [at] davidBphoto.com
to discuss availability. For shoots on location, please e-mail.
My studio is in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, near the corner of 12th Ave. and
E. Pike Street (
Map).
Parking is horrible in the evening, but somewhat better during the afternoon.
I'll send precise directions when we schedule our shoot.
Please e-mail or call if you have questions!
“David Baum's photographs for Annex Theatre productions like
Keep the Light On and
S2 have become a cornerstone of our
marketing campaigns. The images pop and crackle – they've given new life
to our website. David is gracious, professional, responsive, and
an all-around pleasure to work with!”
“David is EXCELLENT! He helped to
transform our ideas into something we couldn't have imagined. I most appreciate
the way he worked with us. He
is very professional, and at the same time very personable and really
a joy to work with. He listens. This is key! And he makes it clear that
he's there to augment YOUR vision. I felt like
he respected us as artists, so there was mutual trust and understanding.”
“David is great! He was excellent to work with: encouraging, flexible, and fun!
We'd certainly use him again!”
